Cleaning products are found everywhere in our homes and offices.  These harsh chemical cleaners are advertised to leave your living space sparkling clean.  This version of "clean", however, comes at a high price. Recent research on the harmful effects of chemical cleaners marks them as health hazards.  Repetitive exposure to  synthetic, petroleum based products have poisonous effects on the human health condition as well as negative implications on the environment.   

 

  • In recent years, over two million household poisonings have been reported annually, 60% of which occurred in children under 13 years of age.


 

  • The average sample of breast milk produced by women in the U.S. contains over 100 contaminants...if bottled and sold as a food product it would violate federal food safety regulations.   

 

  • Within 26 seconds after exposure to chemicals found in cleaning products, traces of these chemicals are found in every organ of the body. 

 

  •  More than 32 million lbs. of household cleaning products are poured down the drain each day.

Here are some simple steps towards a greener tomorrow...

1.LET NATURE IN!!      Buy a few houseplants!!  They actually remove harmful chemicals from our indoor air. The number one plant for air purification is the Boston Fern.

2. THROW OUT YOUR AIR FRESHENERS!!  They are only masking the odor with chemicals.  Some "air fresheners" actually work by inhibiting your ability to smell! Try putting a few drops of essential oil on a light-bulb for a natural scent.



3. BURN SOY!! 
Synthetic candles emit unhealthy fumes and soot.

4.BUY LOCAL!!!
 Purchase locally grown food when possible to support independent, local farms and the environment. They use fewer resources on their way to your plate, and they're usually fresher, too, since they're typically picked more recently

5. TRY ONLINE BANKING!!
Online banking saves you time, money for stamps, and reduces the amount of paper mail coming to your house.
